Mental Health and Wellbeing

We take a whole school approach to promoting positive emotional health and wellbeing that aims to help children become more resilient, happy and confident and helps to prevent problems before they arise.

We encourage all our children to feel able to talk freely and openly to any member of staff, if they have any worries or problems of any kind. Teaching about mental health and emotional wellbeing to all children is delivered through myHappymind which is a program based in science and research.

As part of my role in school as a Learning Mentor and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), I provide support and guidance to children who are experiencing difficulties in learning due to social, emotional or behavioural problems or other any other issues. I help pupils overcome behavioural, social or emotional problems that are affecting their learning.

I use the ELSA Support website regularly and they have some excellent resources that can be used at home by children and parents to help support with any worries and concerns the children may have. Many resources on this website are perfectly suitable for home teaching and there is also a parent section with resources suitable for parents to use.
