School Trips

Here at Willaston we are very proud of our comprehensive range of residentials offered to the children. They form a very important part of our curriculum and our ethos. They allow children to learn outside the classroom in a variety of settings and also promote their personal development and independence.

At present we run five residential visits in the school year for pupils from year 2 through to year 6

Year 2 travel to Beeston for a one night stay at the Cheshire run centre. Whilst there they visit Beeston Castle and have the opportunity to explore the castles history. We take part in workshops at the castle; these are linked to science and technology and involve building bridges and catapults. They stay over and return to school via the Candle Factory where they make a present to bring home. Date of visit; 17-18th May 2017.

Year 3 is another one night stay but this time at Burwardsley. This centre offers the children great opportunities to explore and learn new experiences. Date of visit; 28th-29th March 2017.

Year 4 sees the children extend their visit to two nights. The children travel to the small Cheshire village of Tattenhall. This centre is the old village school and offers the children the chance to take part in some exciting new activities. Date of visit; 19th-21st October 2016.

Year 5 travel further away and are now staying for three nights. They travel across North Wales to Menai, Anglesey and the Conway Centre. Whilst here they take part in the Art Education in a Multicultural Society course or AEMS. They work with different artist from around the world on art, dance and drama. On this residential they have the opportunity to meet with other children from around Cheshire and share work with them. Date of visit; 7th-10th February 2017.

Our final residential is in year 6 and the much anticipated visit to PGL at Winmarleigh Hall in Lancashire. This is a first class opportunity for the children to take part in wide range of outdoor and adventurous activities. The children really love this trip as it is one last week away with their friends before they head off to their new high schools. Date of visit; 19th-23rd June 2017.
